KATERINA BELKINA
Born in Russia, Katerina was brought up in a creative atmosphere by her mother, a visual artist. Formally educated in painting, she digitally manipulates many of her photographs to appear as paintings and often uses herself as the model in her work. Katerina’s passion for classical art combined with her interest in technology led her to experiment with mixed media – she constructs her spaces by taking a slice of reality from photography, atmosphere and light from graphics in post-production and reconstructs her spaces in collage.
Katerina’s sublime, mystic self-portraits combine multiple modes of artistry to create her images. She chooses her subject matter from observations of everyday life, sharing a personal point-of-view based on feminist principles.
