Fashion photographer Julien Tell, in-house photographer at Highsnobiety – the expert on all things trending within fashion, music, and entertainment – put the H6D-100c to use when shooting their collaboration with Versace, giving results that brought the vibrant clothing pieces and dynamic feather-floral arrangements to life.

HIGHSNOBIETY

Berlin-based Highsnobiety is an online magazine, brand and agency covering different sectors of trends within culture, including music, fashion, art, and entertainment. With an emphasis on streetwear style, Highsnobiety recently launched their own online store, Highsnobiety Shop. With weekly drops from various fashion houses, Highsnobiety creates collaborations with these brands, which can be fully designed or co-designed by Highsnobiety’s own team. With the recent collab with Versace, Highsnobiety had the opportunity to be the first retailer globally to pre-launch Versace’s SS20 Men’s Collection and Julien was the lucky one to shoot the lookbook for this project with the H6D-100c.

FLOATING FEATHER FLOWERS

AND OTHER CREATIVE CHOICES

Inspired by the SS20 Versace runway show, where a car decorated with flowers was the centerpiece, the creative team at Highsnobiety led by Herbert Hofman wanted to take this idea and translate it into an aesthetically clean image. Berlin-based flower artist Mary Lennox created the exuberant feather-floral arrangement to fit the shoot’s look. “Herbert wanted to make sure that the flower arrangement complemented the vibrant clothes and not be overshadowed by anything else, which explains the minimal toned background,” says Julien.

Overall, I had a lot of fun shooting with the H6D-100c. It was really simple to figure out all the functions of the camera and I adjusted to it very quickly. The focusing is incredibly sharp when it hits the destined areas. Hasselblad's corresponding Phocus software is very intuitive and works similar to other editing software I use. The sound of the shutter was my favorite part of the experience - sounded really sexy.

The resolution and colour capture of the H6D depicted real life settings. The color was easily controllable with the Phocus software. The amount of detail the camera can capture is insane – when you zoom in on your subject, it's like looking through a microscope. There was especially a lot of definition in the flower feathers.
