WEBINAR - INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL NAJJAR
16 November 2022, 3PM GMT / 4PM CET
Preparing to be the first artist to travel to space, contemporary German artist Michael Najjar blends art, science and technology in his 'outer space' series. Featuring images taken with the H4D and H6D-100c, used to document moments in his preparation for space flight, he shows us just how much Earth and our solar system are interconnected.
Michael’s met with multiple scientists, engineers and astronauts and visited space laboratories around the globe constructing new spacecraft, satellites and telescopes. His collaboration has given him access to privileged locations that are usually unknown to, and unseen by, the public.
'cool earth', Michael's latest project, deals with our planetary future in times of climate change. It addresses the far-reaching ecological, economic and cultural impact of human-induced climate change, which is leading to a redefinition of the relationship between humans and nature. The artworks of the 'cool earth' series combine science and fiction; they imagine the transition to a world without fossil energy and open up a mental field of possibilities for the viewer of how we could shape a liveable, post-destructive world.
During this live webinar, Michael will be talking us through artworks from both the 'outer space' and 'cool earth' series; the stories behind the images, his use of Hasselblad cameras, and offering some insight in to how he captures some of his amazing visuals. As usual, there will also be an opportunity to ask related questions as part of the live presentation.
